Born at about 1230, Wilbirg made a pilgrimage by feet to Santiago with her girlfriend Mathilde.
Either in St. Florian there was a monastery also for women, Wilbirg decided to live alone, in a very little house, nearby the church.
At the time of Bishop Altmann of Passau/Germany (1065-1091) the Roman church was built. The Gothic one was erected from 1274 to 1291 and reconstructed in Baroque style as early as 1630.
